Gather It To You

 Soak up the sunshine
in to your every bone
let the red that sustains you
turn golden yellow
with the healing glow of sunshine.
Float on a butterfly’s wing
enjoying the journey
on the breeze
for soon enough
the wind will chill you.
Gather the bird song
the insect hum
the rumble of the lawn mower
as the silence of white
will soon be all you hear.
Inhale the sweet smells
of flowers in bloom
freshly cut grass
the coming of a summer rain
before cold and crisp pierces your nose.
Outside in the early morning
the sun warming my toes
the sounds of summer filling my ears
I shiver with anticipation
of the change that will soon come.
Soak in the sunshine
in to every part of your being
eyes, ears, nose: use them all
for the trees are already
getting ready for their long sleep.
